Product Description
VW Transporter Ultrasonic PDC Parking / Reverse Sensor Information
Ultrasonic parking sensors use high frequency sound waves to detect objects. The sensors emit sound pulses which are not detectable by humans. The pulses bounce off nearby objects.
Most modern cars can have as many as 20 sensors fitted and located around the cars body. They can be found in the front and rear bumper fascias or tucked away with the recesses of the car.
The rear reversing sensors are activated when the car is put into the reverse gear. When car parking the parking sensor car will warn the driver with a beeping tone. Faster tones indicate closer proximity to an object.
Ultrasonic parking sensor systems may not detect flat surfaces that are not big enough for the waves to bounce off.
The Parking Sensor was first invented by Dr Tony Heyes in the 1970s it was based on an aid for the blind.
