Product Description
What does a wheel bearing actually do?
A wheel bearing is a set steel balls (ball bearings) in a metal ring commonly called a "race". It helps the wheels to spin with minimum friction.
If the bearings seal is damaged this can cause the bearing to start making a noise much like when you drive on the rumble strip of a motorway. This noise will get loader over time.
Over the course of time your wheel bearing will begin to wear out. As this starts to happen the noise level will also increase especially while cornering. When cornering to the left this suggests there maybe a fault on the right hand side.
Replacing your Austin 1000 Series Wheel Bearing
There are a lot of parts to remove from the vehicle to get to the bearing when starting this task especially on a 4x4 or a front wheel drive vehicle. Without a car jack and blocks this will be a very difficult job to do yourself. It is a very tight fit to get the bearing in and out.
