How To Check And Top-Up Engine Oil In Your Car
What is Car Engine Oil?
Car engine oil or motor fluid is commonly referred to as the "lifeblood" of your vehicle. In fact, this is far from incorrect! Engine oil is a lubricant that goes in your vehicle's motor and essentially keeps your car running. The overall job of the lubricant is to reduce wear and tear on the engine. Car oil also reduces friction, fuel consumption, causes lower emissions, and increases horsepower all of this leads to an increase in your vehicle's engine longevity.
Why Must You Check And Replace Your Motor Fluid?
Keeping up to date with debatably the most important aspect of your vehicle is crucial to maintaining your engine and in turn the overall lifespan.Which engine oil your car needs or how often check your car oil depends on the vehicle but here we recommend that you check at least three times a month or if you decide on taking a long drive, to check before.
Checking And Changing The Oil Step By Step
Now for what you've all come here for, let's get into the dirty work!
- 1- First find your dipstick under the car bonnet, it's in most cases yellow and has a loop on the top.
- 2- Pull it out and wipe it down with a clean cloth so you can clearly see the lines.
- 3- Put the dipstick back in and pull it out again.
- 4- Now you should see a line of oil on the dipstick. The oil should be in between the minimum and maximum markings. If you're under you need to top up.
- 5- Unscrew the oil filler cap which should be located near the motor.
- 6- Gradually top up the oil checking the dipstick after every pour until the oil level is sufficiently within the minimum and maximum markings.

Congrats! You're all done, youre officially an engine oil expert. Hopefully, your car is set and ready for the next few weeks.
