What are ball joints?
Ball joints are a ball and socket which provides a pivoting movement to the front suspension allowing free flowing movement in all directions. This ball and socket connects to the steering knuckles and control arms ensuring the suspension is free to move up and down while still providing the steering with smooth movement. This makes sure that the vehicle has the best possible movement on the road.
How to tell your ball joint may need changing
One of the signs that you may need to replace your ball joint is a clanking noise coming from your car. You also may be able to notice pulling on the steering caused from vibrations you can feel in the car which is caused by the loosening of the ball joint also explaining the clanking noise you might be hearing. If the vehicles ball joint becomes loose it may cause damage and wear out suspension, this alters the alignment causing uneven tyre wear.
